Job Summary

Under close supervision, provides clerical and administrative support to the School of Communication and Lee Caplin School of Journalism + Media advising team. Serves as first point of contact for students, employees, and guests. Responds to basic inquires requiring a general understanding of policies, procedures, and guidelines. Ensures inquiries are addressed and resolved. Escalates complex or nonroutine issues or problems to the supervisor.

  • Serves as first point of contact for students, employees, and guests to greet and direct them. Directs students or issues to the appropriate advisor, staff, or faculty.
  • Assists students with questions, scheduling advising appointments through Panther Success Network and High Point and provides information.
  • Oversee the CARTA student academic advising email, ensuring prompt responses to student and faculty inquiries.
  • Manage the CARTA Academic Advising calendar and department Zoom account, ensuring all appointments and meetings are organized. Manage both walk-in and virtual drop-in services for students seeking academic advisement.
  • Assist with organizing and providing support during student orientation events.
  • Provide general administrative support to supervisors, faculty, and staff, including flyer creation for events, and daily communication updates.
  • Sets up and maintains office files and records, reports. Performs basic data entry. Utilize PantherSoft to view and update student data relevant to the role.
  • Assist with student outreach efforts, including phone calls and email campaigns.
  • Request and track work orders for office maintenance and equipment as needed and manage office supplies.
  • Provide admin support to staff and faculty in relation to out-of-office notifications for emergency instances.
  • Complete all necessary professional training regarding university compliance policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED and two (2) years of office or related experience; OR an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.
