Job Summary

Vizcaya Museum and Gardens seeks a Community Programs Student Intern.

The Vizcaya Community Programs Intern is on the Engagement & Cultural Resources Team in the Community Partnerships, Programs and Interpretation Department working with the Community Programs Coordinator (CPC). The CPC oversees the coordination, implementation, and evaluation of creative, mission-based community programs to attract and engage diverse audiences across Miami. Through community programs, the CPC deepens engagement, increases attendance and uplifts community voices.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Community Programs Coordinator (CPC) to prepare and run mission-aligned programs that creatively explore Vizcayas past, present and future for a variety of audiences.
  • Assist coordination and set-up of program vendors, artists and contractors.
  • Work with CPC on program logistics, and implement community and family programs
  • Prepare, and inventory programs supplies.
  • Collaborate with Vizcayas Communications department to propose content and outreach strategies for advertisements, web content, and other promotional materials in a timely manner.
  • Draft program ticket sites and registrations for review by Program and Marketing teams.
  • Professionally and courteously handle inquiries via telephone and email.
  • Collect and administer surveys to track visitor engagement and satisfaction.
  • Direct volunteers and contracted vendors as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Effectiveness in planning, organizing, and meeting deadlines
  • Demonstrated storytelling skills across traditional and digital media
  • Writing and editing skills and attention to detail
  • Skill in working with the WordPress CMS to post and optimize content
  • Understanding of social media content production standards
  • Knowledge of cultural institutions or historic sites preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled as a student at FIU with a minimum of six (6) credits as an Undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a Graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters.
  • During the Summer semesters, Students need only remain enrolled and are not required to take credit hours, but cannot have graduated.
  • Upon decreasing credit hours or graduating, student employment must end.
Work Schedule

  • Monday Friday.
  • Location: Vizcaya Museum and Gardens at 3251 S. Miami Avenue, Miami, FL, 33129
  • Will work during regular office hours
  • One semester internship.
  • 10 to 12 weeks not to exceed 144 hours per semester.
Advertised Salary

$18.00/hour
