Job Description:
The job of Human Resources Specialist (Licensure) was established for the purpose/s of ensuring that personnel procedures conform to district policies; resolving licensure issues; monitoring the credential process; maintaining records of employee status; providing information to employees within the district; documenting information and ensuring processing of district/state/federal required reports; and processing applicants efficiently; ensuring employees have appropriate licensure for assigned job(s).
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in a job-related area.
- Experience: Job-related within the specialized field with increasing levels of responsibility is required.
Essential Functions:
- Composes documents (e.g. correspondence, agenda, minutes, bulletins, reports, etc.) to communicate information to school and district personnel, the public, state officials, etc.
- Coordinates employment process (e.g. recruitment, interviewing, etc.) in compliance with mandated requirements. Evaluate employment transcripts to assess applicant eligibility and salary placement.
- Provides necessary information to personnel on a variety of procedures and program requirements to assist in making decisions, taking appropriate action, and/or complying with established fiscal guidelines.
- Maintains a variety of employment files (applicants, seniority and eligibility lists, test scores, etc.) and records, compiling pertinent employee information (e.g. salary, probationary period, eligibility, etc.) to ensure accuracy of employee's compensation, eligibility for position, and compliance with mandated requirements.
- Ensures efficient processing of applicants and employees in addressing position requirements and adherence to legal and/or administrative requirements.
- Participates in meetings, workshops, and seminars as assigned to gather information required to perform functions.
- Prepares various reports and related documents (e.g. agenda items, change of status, leave of absence, recruitment packages, conference schedules, etc.).
- Processes documents and materials (e.g. applications, salary schedules, changes in employment status, credential renewals, etc.) and disseminates information to appropriate parties.
- Provides orientation to new personnel (e.g. employment practices, etc.) to ensure employees are knowledgeable of current practices and administrative processes.
- Researches and adheres to employment laws and regulations to implement procedures in compliance with current legal requirements.
- Responds to inquiries from a variety of internal and external sources (e.g. staff, parents, students, public agencies, etc.).
- Schedules evaluations, testing, interviews, etc. to process applicants efficiently.
- Screens employment applications to validate applicant qualifications against posted requirements.
- Reviews licensure issues in compliance with VDOE regulations to ensure eligibility for employment.
- Orients new employees (e.g. payroll, benefits, licensure, etc.) on employee licensure.
- Other duties as assigned
Clearances:
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
- Tuberculosis Skin Test.
Public Health Compliance
- Must follow safety and health protocols.
