About the Job

Summary:
A one year or less position to investigate the mechanism of filopodia formation in mammalian cells and carry out exploratory ex to study filopodial myosins.

Essential and Other Functions
The postdoctoral associate will be responsible for leading a project to study mammalian cell filopodia. They will carry out ongoing structure/function analysis of the filopodial myosin, design and execute experiments in consultation with the PI, summarize results and the conclusions from the work.

Work independently to design experiments (10%)
Conduct experiments (70%)
Analyze data (10%)
Compile and prepare data for publication (10%)

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
PhD in molecular, cellular, cancer biology. Experience with mammalian cell culture, transfections and imaging using widefield and spinning disc confocal microscopy, molecular biology skills, protein work and experience with data analysis packages (i.e. GraphPad Prism, Excel).

Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with quantitative image analysis and using transfer learning to improve models essential for the analysis process.

About the Department

The Department of Genetics, Cell Biology, and Development comprises faculty from both the Medical School and the College of Biological Sciences. Faculty members are engaged in research in three key disciplines of the department-genetics, cell biology and developmental biology.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $61,008 - $61,008
