About the Job

Responsibilities:
* Assistance in technical writing and editing of scholarly manuscripts and educational materials. This includes style editing, readability and clarity suggestions, proofreading, figure design, and formatting works to journal specifications. Tools used include internet access, video conferencing software, and word processing and bibliography applications.
* No data analysis is required, nor is adding new content to the MS. No citation research or adding new references to MS are required, but checking the fidelity and correctness of the citations in the MS and Reference section may be needed.
* Combining and incorporating editorial responses from several collaborators on the MS are needed. When necessary, organization (possibly via zoom) and communicating (via emails) with collaborators requesting their contributions and edits for the preparation of the MS.
* Deliverables and timelines for each project would be established at the beginning of the work, with the supplier's anticipated completion date dependent on the complexity of the work and the ability to obtain timely feedback.
* There is an expectation that the supplier would work remotely using their own personal computer or digital device.
* Virtual meetings to arrange work and discuss edits would be made on a mutually agreeable schedule for the supplier and Department faculty employer.

Limited to 8 hours per week.

Qualifications

All required qualifications must be documented on application materials.
Required Qualifications:
* PhD in Biochemistry, Biophysics, and Molecular Biology
* Writing experience (including grant applications) in scientific research, including design, literature review, and data collection and analysis.
* Experience working effectively as a team member.
* Demonstrated skill interacting with and communicating to diverse individuals, points of view, and organizations.
* Exceptional organizational skills, follow-through and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Demonstrated ability to write for both academic and non-academic professional audiences and to communicate and translate across disciplines.
* Communication and judgement to conduct scientific data collection and build positive relationships with stakeholders.
* Background in science and technical writing essential.
* Experience with writing successful grant applications.
