The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Sanghvi lab is looking for a motivated Technician B to join their team. The lab studies the role of overnutrition in oncogenic metabolism and shaping the tumor microenvironment. We utilize a variety of genetically engineered mouse models (lung and liver malignancies), functional genomics and proteomics, genome editing, and innovative screening platforms to study cancer biology. The ultimate goal is to identify new feasible and effective therapeutic opportunities. The Technician B will oversee routine lab maintenance, ensure adequate lab supplies, and assist the postdoctoral scientist with lab activities.

Responsibilities



  • Assist with lab activities and assist postdoc with their experiments.
  • Order lab supplies and manage lab equipment.
  • Assist with mouse colony maintenance.
  • Perform routine in vitro and tissue culture procedures as well as assist with complex molecular biology or immunological experiments.
  • Develop and manage lab safety protocols and guidelines.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications



  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics or related science or equivalent in training and/or experience.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences preferably with at least 1 year lab experience
  • Well-versed with molecular biology and tissue culture techniques.
  • Experience in mouse handling and colony maintenance highly preferred.
  • Proficient at performing complicated experiments in a timely manner.

  • Technical accuracy, reliability, and attention to the details of procedural protocols
  • Adherence to safety guidelines and the ability to work in a team.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills and a strong interest in biological sciences.
  • Participation in the medical surveillance program:

    • Work with laboratory animals
    • Contact with patients and/or human research subjects
    • Potential bloodborne pathogen exposure


  • Must successfully complete applicable compliance and systems training requirements.
