LMI is seeking a skilled Sr. DoD Maintenance Consultant to join the Acquisition and Sustatainment Services service line in providing senior leadership support to a DoD organization. This position will provide advanced analytical and policy advocacy and assessments in the area of DoD organic industrial base strategy, materiel readiness, and maintenance management. The work will be performed in the Pentagon (Arlington, VA). Responsibilities
As a Sr. DoD Maintenance Consultant, you will serve the government client by:
Providing organic industrial base, materiel readiness, maintenance, or sustainment subject matter expertise in support of the client, ensuring work products address weapon system acquisition and sustainment requirements. Conceptualize and offer approaches and techniques that strengthen the organic industrial base from resourcing, infrastructure, and policy perspectives.
- Apply advanced analytical skills and maintenance policy expertise to quantify trends, anomalies or performance gaps in DoD organic industrial base performance and materiel readiness outcomes. Effectively identify and scope descriptive and prescriptive performance data, conduct trend and root cause analysis, and synthesize relevant findings and recommendations to the client.
- Analyze and assess potential effects and impacts of existing and proposed legislation on DoD policy as it relates to organic industrial base performance, industrial base capabilities, and weapon system availability.
- Employ specialized knowledge and experience to assessments designed to increase the government's ability to enhance the viability and resilience of its organic depot maintenance activities. Applicable statute and policy expertise is required in order to address topics such as maintenance levels of repair, core capability determination, testability requirements, support equipment needs, site activation, development of preventive maintenance programs using reliability centered maintenance, sustainment and product support planning, and postproduction software support.
- Conduct detailed research and prepare point papers/speeches/remarks for use by senior DoD officials to internal and external organizations related to the organic industrial base and its importance to the overall defense industrial base. Produce charts and other presentation materials. Prepare and finalize correspondence including letters, memoranda, briefings, speeches, presentations, meeting minutes, and reports.
- Clearly communicate analytical and/or policy-related outcomes in advocacy, briefings, papers, and/or associated products to a variety of senior level DoD stakeholders and audiences.
- Provide information-based counsel and advocacy to senior DoD sustainment and materiel readiness leaders. Focused effort will be required to shape and elaborate on organic industrial base strategic goals and initiatives, as well as how to measure progress on those efforts.
- Collaborate with analysts, specialists, and industrial base experts throughout DoD organizations and industry to provide data-driven observations, feedback, and recommendations that strengthen the client's capability to understand, monitor, and shape the organic industrial base and its ability to deliver on materiel readiness outcomes.
- Have familiarity with Depot Source of Repair (DSOR) recommendations, CORE report, Bearing report, and DoD Instructions 3110.05 and 4151.18
- Collaborate with subject-matter experts on researching, writing, and editing strategy and policy papers
- Support client in the planning and logistics of annual defense symposium
Qualifications
- Undergraduate or graduate degree in management, operations research, mathematics, data science, or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience with DoD maintenance, materiel readiness or organic/industrial base organizations (required).
- Service related experience with maintenance of major weapon systems (preferred)
- Prior military or DoD civilian/contractor experience.
- Knowledge/experience in industrial base planning and metrics development, or specialized experience in DoD weapon system acquisition and sustainment frameworks and metrics.
- Excellent quantitative and analytical skills, proven ability to use database and statistical software.
- Self-directed, detail oriented in completing assigned tasks, able to adapt to changing work efforts and manage impact of shifting priorities.
- Demonstrated history of excelling in a team-oriented environment while supporting a broad range of strategic planning initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to use MS Office Suite to include Word, PowerPoint, Access, and Excel.
- Superior communication skills, both oral and written (required).
- High energy, enthusiasm, tact, ability to effectively interact with senior Government and industry leaders as well as Pentagon staff members.
- Ability to create and foster a cooperative work environment.
- Availability for occasional travel.
- Current active SECRET clearance.
Target Salary Range: $119,000 - 180,000 Disclaimer: The salary range displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is not a guarantee of compensation.
