A great opportunity to join an amazing collaboration of Finance analysts working together in part of the overall financial mission of the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences for strong, effective and supportive full portfolio management. Team training & collaboration is the start, middle and end. It's a true Team. This role within the group will be directly responsible for the efficient management of all Department state, gifts/endowments, discretionary and sales/service funds..The successful candidate will use advanced professional concepts and organizational objectives to resolve complex issues in creative and effective ways. The analyst will be responsible for identifying and resolving complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. We require someone who exercises professional and soundjudgement in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. This candidate will be part of an operational unit within a growing and dynamic Department. The Finance Team is an integral part of that growth, as we work so broadly with all Leadership and Faculty in supporting the amazing clinical, research, educational activities within the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $109,300 - $163,900 (Annual Rate).

The UCSF Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences (DPBS) is among the nation's foremost resources in the field of child, adolescent, and adult mental health. Psychiatry faculty members are recognized for their leadership roles in state-of-the-art, comprehensive and compassionate patient care, pioneering research, excellence in training the next generation of leaders, advancing public policy to advance mental health, and commitment to diversity.

Required Qualifications


  • College degree in related area and minimum of five years' experience or equivalent experience / training.
  • Advanced knowledge of finance policies, practices, and systems.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of internal control practices and their impact on protecting University resources.
  • Ability to identify, collect, and analyze information from multiple sources.
  • In depth ability to use multiple spreadsheet and database software tools to gather information for specialized, complex financial analysis, fiscal management, and financial reports.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills at all levels within the organization; advanced service orientation and critical thinking skills; and attention to detail. In depth ability to use organizational skills to multi-task in a high volume environment.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to function as a member of a team.
  • Advanced ability to effectively present complex finance related information both verbally and in writing in a clear and concise manner.
