The International Student Advisor will support the office's mission of providing services to international students, scholars, faculty, and staff at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. These services are designed to help individuals lawfully pursue their academic and professional goals at the university. The advisor will assist in managing immigration processing, advising, and outreach services provided by the International Student & Scholar Services team to over 1,300 nonimmigrant international students on the Daytona Beach campus.

The International Student Advisor will also serve as the primary Designated School Official (DSO) for F-1 students on the Daytona Beach campus and will provide backup support to the Director and Associate Director in F-1 student advising and counseling. Additionally, the advisor will support the Director and Associate Director as a backup Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for the J-1 visa program. The role will include providing backup during Orientation, Check-in, and registration activities as needed.

This is a hybrid position.

The International Student Advisor will:

  • Act as a Designated School Official (DSO) for F-1 Students.
  • Evaluate enter, and submits student data into the DHS Student & Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) and create documents for students.
  • Maintain and update data for each qualifying event requiring SEVIS reporting.
  • Handle all requests from ICE via SEVIS for program changes and student record collections.
  • Review and process all Summer Camper F1 requests.
  • Assist as a back up to the ISSS Director, Associate Director, and Senior International Advisor in F1 and J1 in person student advising and services.
  • Provide backup support as a back up to the Director, Associate Director, and Senior International Advisor on student requests for CPT, OPT, and STEM and maintain the reporting requirements for these programs.
  • Assist the Director, Associate Director, and Senior International Advisor with data entry and logistics during Orientation and Check-in at the start of each term. Coordinate Check-in sessions in collaboration with the Director, Associate Director, and Senior International Student Advisor to ensure students complete the mandatory International Check-in required by the Department of Homeland Security.
  • Collaborate with the ISSS office in designing and executing international student programming events.
  • Support the ISSS office in preparing and delivering workshop presentations.
  • Carry out additional job-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of work experience in a student support role.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, initiative, and teamwork

  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Able to work in a fast paced student oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Campus Solutions, Via TRM, and SEVIS
