Job Summary:

Academic Affairs, within the UW School of Medicine and Public Health (SMPH), invites applications for this position of program support in the career advising and residency application of MD students. Supervised by the Director of Career Advising, the successful candidate will help plan and execute large-scale events and programs, assist students and UW Health staff in clinical rotation administration, and provide support to students and staff in MD residency application material preparation and submission. We are ready to train in content knowledge, if needed. The most important traits for the successful candidate will be an interest in helping students succeed and a close eye for details. Responsibilities:
Contributes to the development, implementation, administration, coordination, and evaluation for one or more academic programs to ensure effectiveness in meeting departmental and student development goals and initiatives. Strives to create a welcoming, equitable, and inclusive work environment.

  • 25% Utilizes independent judgement regarding development, implementation, promotion, and evaluation for one or more academic programs, initiatives, or events
  • 25% Identifies program, needs, contributes to the development of unit workflows, schedules logistics and secures resources for meetings, events, and interviews
  • 10% Coordinates program components and evaluates program effectiveness and provides recommendations for improvement
  • 25% May supervise the day to day activities of one or more academic programs and resolves issues exercising discretion to meet unit goals.
  • 15% Serve as primary institutional contact in the Visiting Student Learning Opportunity database for UW students and SMPH/UW Health departmental staff

Qualifications:

Required:
- Professional experience in an educational or healthcare setting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience planning and/or executing events/programs
- High attention to detail

Preferred:
- Background in student services or advising
- Familiarity with health professions education


Work Type:

Full Time: 100%

This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
