Job Summary

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Director of Business Intelligence (BI), work as part of the Advancement Services team supporting fundraising at UC Davis. Work with product owners, business analysts, and business unit stakeholders to turn business functionality requests in the form of user stories into technical deliverables that meet the requirements of the project. Serve on the delivery team within Advancement Services to coordinate and oversee that the products and services provided meet the quality and deadline objectives using the Agile SCRUM methodology. As part of the BI delivery team, help lead efforts to support Advancement Services products including (Advance Web, iModules, Reeher, Michelangelo, Online giving system etc.). Participate in determining how newly acquired data should be stored in the database to best meet user needs and be consistent with existing data. Analyze institutional business needs, system resources, and end user needs to improve existing data management processes. Independently specify, test, and debug user interfaces and SQL queries and programming code. Develop and enforce data standards. Consult with product owners and other delivery team members to devise and implement the technology solutions that meet the objectives for the user story/use case. As needed, develop implementation plans and conduct project management activities. Analyze processes, create documentation, and develop and oversee the training for internal and external use. Make recommendations for programmatic data correction, including data downloading, analyzing, programmatic correction, and uploading into an enterprise-scale database environment for improving and enforcing data standards. Provide analysis and development across a variety of platforms, including data mapping. Provide general system administration, installation, file management and perform data update transfers using available tools.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in understanding complex technical and conceptual information, identifying key issues and details, and presenting understandable alternatives to both technical and non-technical users orally and in writing.
  • Professional programming experience using Structured Query Language (SQL) - Oracle Procedural Language (PL/SQL), Python, or C#.
  • Business experience with an understanding of operational and customer requirements within an institution of significant complexity and breadth.
  • Experience with documenting processes and procedures. Skills to develop report specifications from customer requirements and develop reports that represent the data.
  • Interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively and diplomatically with management, peer institutions, software vendors, donors, customers, students, staff and/or university administrators.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and management skills to independently research, develop, and recommend solutions to complex problems and issues.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Advance Web, iModules, Reeher, Michelangelo and/or Advance Windows.
  • Helpdesk Management experience. Experience in developing SLAs and managing a Helpdesk tracking database such as ServiceNow. Experience in training and/or developing a comprehensive training program.
  • Experience supporting not-for-profit or fundraising environment such as annual fund and/or a membership program. Experience working on as part of an Agile, SCRUM or KANBAN team.
  • Awareness, knowledge, and skill in applying diversity, equity and inclusion to one's work.
