The Risk Analyst ensures effective loss prevention and loss control in compliance with state, federal and VCUHS standards. This job conducts investigation of unanticipated/unexpected clinical outcomes, preventable significant clinical outcomes and potential compensable events (PCEs). This job analyzes risk management data, develops and conducts risk management educational programs, and provides risk management advice with the objective of maintaining patient safety, enhancing quality care, and minimizing loss. Collaborates closely with Patient Safety, Accreditation, Licensing & Regulatory, Compliance, Security, Patient Relations, Ethics and the Office of General Counsel to identify, manage and resolve risk management issues. Prepares and provides risk management education to insureds and stakeholders
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: Current RN licensure in Virginia or eligible or compact state required Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) preferred Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) preferred
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment: Current RN Virginia license required Current CPHRM certification preferred Current CPHQ certification preferred
Experience REQUIRED: Minimum of three (3) years of previous clinical nursing experience
Experience PREFERRED: Two (2) years of previous experience in risk management Two (2) years of previous experience in presenting subject matter information and facilitating teamwork Previous experience in a complex healthcare environment and organizational operations
Education/training REQUIRED: Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing
Education/training PREFERRED: Masters Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Law, Healthcare Administration, Public Health or Business Administration from an accredited program.
Independent action(s) required:Serves as consultant to other Departments across VCUHS to ensure effective risk management programs and policies.

Additional position requirements:Provides 24/7 on-call risk management coverage as scheduled and provides risk management consultation as appropriate.
