Summary:
The Lead Education Technician III role provides academic instruction and behavioral support in special purpose schools. This role will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to design and provide services that support the achievement of academic, behavioral and daily living goals of students in accordance with the Individual Treatment Plan, IEP and/or behavioral support plan. The Lead role provides mentoring, training and support to other team members.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

1. Education: High School diploma or GED preferred. 2. License/Certifications: Certification as an Education Technician III from the Maine Department of Education required (minimum of 90 credits in approved study). 3. Experience: Two years of relevant experience working with children or youth with developmental disorders, mental health disorders and/or challenging behaviors in a school, hospital or residential setting preferred. 4. Additional Skills/Requirements Required: DOE fingerprinting. Knowledge and skills necessary to provide education and care to students/patients (ages 5-20) with consideration of variable cognitive abilities, developmental levels and culture patterns. Minimal proficiency in swimming in shallow and deep water to secure safety of students in event of an emergency. 5. Additional Skills/Requirements Preferred: N/A
