HEAVY EQUIPMENT MECHANIC (CORRECTIONAL FACILITY) $5,978.00 - $7,164.00 per Month Final Filing Date: Job Description and Duties
Inspects equipment to locate and determine the extent of necessary repairs and the corrective action necessary; maintains and repairs automobiles, trucks, tractors, power shovels, graders, snowplows, pumps, air compressors, diesel and gasoline engines, and similar equipment; constructs new special equipment or modifies existing equipment including body frames and running gear; makes installation of or repairs to special equipment; operates and maintains tools and machinery used in the repair and maintenance of heavy maintenance and construction equipment; advises in the selection of parts and equipment; estimates repair costs; instructs operators in the proper operation and servicing of equipment; performs minor welding and brazing work; maintains simple records and makes reports; instructs and supervises helpers or apprentices and inmates or wards; maintains order and supervises the conduct of persons committed to the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation; prevents escapes and injury by these persons to themselves or others or to property; maintains security of working areas and work materials; and inspects premises and searches inmates or wards for contraband, such as weapons or illegal drugs. About the location - California Rehabilitation Center (CRC) is located in Norco, CA (Riverside County). CRC is a medium Level II Non-Designated Programming Facility, centrally located near San Bernardino, Los Angeles, and Orange counties and near highways 15, 60, and 91. The primary goals of CRC are to provide an atmosphere of safety and security to the public, visitors, staff, and incarcerated people. The administration at CRC is cognizant of the rights and entitlements of all CRC commitments. We fully support and adhere to a guidelines and provisions governing the Disability Placement Program and the Correctional Clinical Case Management System. In addition to staffing, CRC is also responsible for providing 100+ correctional custody personnel to provide medical guarding and transportation services to Patton State Hospital. CRC also provides Fire Suppression, Conservation, and Community Service assistance to the public. The Norconian Resort is located on CRC grounds, the resort complex (formally known as Lake Norconian Club) is still largely intact after 70 years as a Naval Base and Prison, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. CRC offers an on-site fitness center for staff, nearby shopping centers, and restaurants. Minimum Requirements
