Job Summary

The Loudoun County Attorney's Office is seeking a Senior Assistant County Attorney. While this position is classified as a Senior Assistant Cunty Attorney, it may be filled at a lower Assistant County Attorney position if the successful candidate does not meet the requirements of a Senior Assistant.

The attorney will draft/argue pre-trial motions, pleadings, issue and respond to discovery, handle depositions, attend court hearings on behalf of the County, perform research, and effectively communicate with clients, internal staff, the judiciary, governmental agencies, and others to ensure cases are appropriately handled within mandated time frames. The successful candidate must be able to work independently, prioritize workload, be detail-oriented, organized, and able to multitask. Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.

Assistant County Attorney salary range: $83,907.45 - $146,838.04
Senior Assistant County Attorney salary range: $96,159.04 - $177,894.21

Hiring salary commensurate with experience at either level.


Minimum Qualifications

Minimum job requirements for Assistant County Attorney: A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.

Minimum job requirements for a Senior Assistant County Attorney: A Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school; at least three (3) years' experience as a licensed practicing attorney, including at least two (2) years' experience practicing local government or a specific relevant practice area.

Must be a member of the Virginia State Bar (in good standing). Experience in transactional litigation such as construction, contracts, land use and commercial law preferred.
