The Broward County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified candidates for Behavioral Health Clinician (Outreach) with the Broward Addiction Recovery Center. General Description The Outreach Team engages in various activities to educate and engage community residents who may need or be unaware of social services, including substance use treatment, that will improve or enhance their lives.
Key components of this Outreach program include identifying critical locations in the community where underserved residents may congregate; provide educational and informative presentations to a variety of groups; and assists in developing promotional material for public distribution and education.
Outreach duties may include, but are not limited to: * Must be able to respond to various locations as scheduled. * Travel to identified critical hotspot areas within Broward County to provide education, Narcan distribution, referral resources, screening and assessment of persons for BARC services * Transport clients who meet criteria for BARC services to BARC * Work with providers in the community to coordinate identified services (police departments, Homeless Assistance Task Force, Broward Health, Family Success, Housing Options, Solutions, and Supports Division (HOSSD), etc.) * Work closely with the Division's Community Care Team (CCT) to support and enhance services provided to clients in the community * Participate as a member of the Division's Public Education Awareness Team (PEAT) Committee to increase community awareness of BARC and its services in the community by attending community events and providing presentations to the schools and the community. * Identify agencies and community providers who will benefit from education and training on substance use and services provided by BARC. * Assist in planning, organizing, and conducting outreach programs, events, workshops, conferences, and discussion groups to promote BARC services, healthy behaviors, and community resources. * Actively network to build and maintain positive relationships with community members, providers, agency representatives, supervisors and office staff. * Work closely with hospitals and other agencies who provide behavioral health services (e.g. Henderson, Archways, Banyan, etc) to assist with coordinating services for clients in need of substance use treatment * Work closely with the BARC's Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) staff to provide support to clients in the program and assist them with remaining engaged in treatment * Assist in preparing exhibits, brochures, flyers, posters, website, and other materials for public distribution and education to promote substance use treatment and reduce the stigma associated with recovery. * May assist in compiling and maintaining records, reports and statistical information. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Requires a Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in social work, gerontology, psychology, counseling or closely related field to area of assignment.
Requires one (1) year in social services casework, counseling or closely related field to area of assignment. Depending on the area of assignment, six (6) months of clinical case management may also be required. Special Requirements May be required to work nights/weekends/holidays.
Special Certifications and Licenses Required Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License for duration of appointment. Depending upon area of assignment, licensures and/or certifications may be required.
Preferences
* Licensure as a LMFT, LCSW, LMHC, and/or clinical psychologist in the State of Florida
* Master's Certified Addiction Professional (MCAP) or Certified Addictions Professional (CAP)
* Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in social work, psychology, counseling or closely related field (Mental Health Counseling, Marriage and Family Counseling, Counseling Education)
* Bilingual (English-Spanish/Creole)
* Experience working with the homeless community
* Experience developing and making presentations to the community

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the job as necessary.
* Conducts clinical screenings, interviews and bio-psychosocial evaluations in hospital district. * Coordinates treatment with community, governmental and service providers. * Conducts home and community visits as needed to provide substance abuse counseling to participants and their families. * Observes, evaluates, and monitors reports and records program participant status and progress. * Conducts clinical interviews and biopsychosocial evaluations. * Conducts group and individual counseling sessions. * Develops treatment plans with program participants and/or their families. * Maintains associated clinical records manually and/or electronically using computer based applications. * Prepares accurate and timely written reports on assigned caseload using computer based software applications. * Observes, evaluates, monitors, reports and records client status and progress. * Counsels program participants, including those with complex issues; facilitates intermediate and advanced group sessions concerning substance abuse and co-occurring related issues. * Provides advocacy services to clients (greets family, obtains consent for medical exam, walks client to the exam room, provides emotional support during the examination, provides counseling service referrals and any other referrals family may need). * Answers after hours calls from front desk, and from the 24-hour rape hotline. * Assists with physical abuse intakes for Crisis Protection Team. * Acts as an advocate between the families and law enforcement, state attorney's office, or child protective services to ensure that the needs and/or concerns of the client are being addressed. * Links families to different agencies within the community, such as housing assistance, childcare, and foodbanks, to assist them with various needs. * Assists clients with completing assistance applications. * Participates in staff meetings and trainings as scheduled. * Coordinates treatment with other community, governmental and service providers. * Prepares accurate and timely written reports on assigned caseload as well as the quality and/or quantity of work completed. * Confers with program participants, their families and/or other care-givers regarding issues of treatment. * Documents progress notes and tracks daily reports for documentation purposes. * Assists with special projects assigned by the supervisor. * Performs related work as assigned.
