Behavioral Health Liaison

The liaison will primarily serve students, staff and families in an assigned school building(s) within the Penn Trafford School District during the school year. Their role will be to provide consultation services to student support teams in assigned school district. Generally, their services will include screenings and recommendations with identified students as well as case management like supports to ensure students emotional and academic needs are being addressed. Work involves direct services to school-based population, staff, and parents in addition to being a liaison to community organizations.

Additional Responsibilities include: Direct Services for K-12 population (or assigned grade levels) Consultation and Technical Assistance Program development for small groups, classroom education, as well as school-wide events Crisis Intervention Obtaining and maintaining proper documentation of service provision.

Position requires baccalaureate degree (master's degree preferred) in counseling, psychology, education or related field. Mental health and drug and alcohol programming experience preferred. Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills required to work with youth, school, staff, families, and the community. Liaison will be expected to obtain at least 12 hours of continuing education or professional development each year.


Job Summary

Implements prevention services in assigned schools and communities throughout Allegheny County and creates evidence-based, evidence-informed, and supplemental programs allowed by the Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs (DDAP). Administers needs assessment activities, directs students and families to relevant services, coordinates counseling with outside agencies, and recruits children and families for community-based programming. Acts as a liaison to community service agencies and provides technical assistance on community-based collaborations. Adheres to all applicable laws and policies.


Essential Functions

* Constructs and implements prevention services in selected schools and communities in Westmoreland County.

* Devises evidence-based, evidence-informed, and supplemental programs based on needs of students.

* Consults with student assistance program team, faculty, and families to facilitate activities.

* Arranges and administers needs assessment services.

* Directs students and families to relevant services upon consultation. Coordinates counseling and school services with outside agencies.

* Provides consultation to staff.

* Adheres to all applicable laws and policies developed by internal and external agents.

* Facilitates staff trainings and professional development trainings.

* Provides technical assistance to community-based collaborations.


Physical Effort

Duties are carried out in school buildings and require being able to meet with students, provide classroom presentations, provide staff development, and write reports. Minimal lifting, pushing, pulling. Computer work is required. Verbal and written communication required.
