Manager, Student Employment

The Manager of Student Employment will oversee all aspects of the student employment program, ensuring efficient hiring processes, regulatory compliance, and meaningful work experiences for students. This role involves collaborating with various campus departments and external partners to create job opportunities, provide guidance on student employment policies, and ensure that student employees are supported and treated fair in their student employment role as student workers.

Job Summary

Leads team and manages student employment processes and administrative operations. Enhances policies, procedures, and initiatives and develops metrics to track program effectiveness. Serves as a primary contact regarding student employment functions, conducts trainings, and maintains marketing, communications, and training materials.


Essential Functions

o Oversee the administration and coordination of on-campus and off-campus student employment programs.
o Develop, implement, and update policies and procedures related to student employment, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations.
o Maintain accurate records of student employment, including work-study eligibility, hours worked, and wages.
o Collaborate with departments to identify student employment needs and create job descriptions that meet those needs.
o Provide students with resources to assist in job searches, interview preparation, and the overall employment process.
o Provide orientation and training for student employees and supervisors on topics such as workplace expectations, time management, and professional behavior.
o Ensure compliance with federal work-study guidelines.
o Ensure proper hiring and onboarding for students throughout the hiring process for students.
o Prepare reports and analysis on student employment trends, program effectiveness, and work-study allocations for senior management.
o Foster relationships with internal departments to develop and promote on-campus employment opportunities.
o Serve as the primary contact for inquiries regarding student employment, providing exceptional customer service to students, staff, and employers.
o Regularly assess the student employment program and recommend improvements to increase student participation, enhance job quality, and support career development.
o Stay updated on best practices in student employment and implement innovative approaches to engage students and supervisors.

o Supervises staff, including hiring, distributing and reviewing work, performance reviews, and documenting disciplinary actions and other human resource administration. Manages work schedules and approves timecards. Provides professional development opportunities.


Physical Effort

Little physical effort required. Duties are primarily sedentary. May be required to move objects up to 25 pounds occasionally.
