Job Description

We are looking for aSenior SoftwareEngineerwith demonstrated experience in cutting edge technology, software engineering and experiment, software technology demonstration and evaluation, developing concepts of operation, and requirements analysis.

As aSeniorSoftwareEngineer,you will:

A week in the life of aSeniorSoftwareEngineer:



  • Advise senior policy makers on critical decisions in the area of software assurance.
  • Providedirect support to DOD R&E Domain and Technical Lead in the assessment, overview, and development of schedules, plans, briefings, and other technical support associated with Major DoD Acquisition Programs.
  • Conduct DoD software measurement and analysis on benchmarking, cost estimating and project control.
  • Provide SWE technical and analytical services in support of OUSD acquisition program responsibilities, the term software includes, but is not limited to, Commercial-off-the-Shelf, Government-off-the Shelf, custom code, firmware, and software applied to Major Defense Acquisition Programs (MDAPs), Major Automated Information Systems (MAIS) and other systems as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • BS plus 10 years of experience in software engineering.
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills
  • DoD secret clearance required (TS a plus)
  • Prior Experience:

    • Supporting DoD Software Modernization and Coordination. Knowledge of development of comprehensive software strategies throughout DoD acquisition lifecycle.
    • Coordinating with OUSD(A&S), OSD CIO/CDO, the Services, and other agencies software staffs as required to ensure comprehensive and efficient overall software modernization strategies.
    • With recent and relevant software development (including Agile methodologies, and Development, Security, and Operations (DevSecOps).
    • Collaborating with other stakeholders, DoD contractors and independent consultants on technical assessments, provide customer with actionable recommendations to mitigate risks and issues in order to improve software related program execution.
    • DoD technical assessment guidance and methodology to perform software and DoD Data Modernization reviews and prepare the assessments.

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is $130k - $160k. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
