Job Summary |
Auburn University is excited to begin the search for a Director of Integrated Media and Communications to join the Communications and Marketing team! This position enhances the Communication and Marketing team and aids in the development and execution of Auburn's news and brand content strategy. This role provides strategic oversight for the planning, creation, and distribution of content across various channels to engage our target audiences and advance our marketing and strategic objectives .
What You'll Do:
Shape Auburn's Story with Strategic Media & Brand Vision Lead the charge in crafting bold media and brand story strategies that elevate Auburn's mission, values, and unique identity. You'll analyze market trends, audience behavior, and the media landscape to shape news and content initiatives that build Auburn's presence and inspire our community. Inspire & Lead Cross-Functional Creative Content Collaboration Drive collaboration with talented teams across photography, video, social media, marketing, and design. Together, you'll create powerful, engaging content that resonates with Auburn's diverse audience. As a creative lead, you'll set the tone for projects that capture Auburn's story and make a lasting impact. Elevate Auburn's Voice Through High-Impact Content Production Oversee the entire content production pipeline-from ideation and writing to editing and publishing. With a focus on brand consistency, you'll ensure every article, social post, and email captures Auburn's authentic voice. Your leadership will amplify Auburn's brand across digital channels, reaching alumni, students, faculty, and the wider public. Essential Functions |
Purpose:
- Develop and execute comprehensive media relations and brand content strategies to boost Auburn's visibility and bring its mission, vision, and values to the forefront. These strategies will align closely with Auburn's goals, ensuring that every piece of communication reinforces the university's identity and resonates with intended audiences.
- Engage in ongoing research and analysis of the media landscape, audience preferences, and market trends to inform the approach to news and brand content. This involves not only staying informed but actively using these insights to guide Auburn's media presence and shape compelling stories that connect deeply with both local and broader communities.
Collaboration:
- Foster meaningful partnerships across a range of creative and strategic departments, including photo, video, social media, marketing, design, and other campus stakeholders. By working closely with these teams, you'll ensure that every project benefits from a diverse set of skills and perspectives, resulting in cohesive, impactful content.
- Engage with campus partners to coordinate communication efforts across departments, enhancing Auburn's overall messaging consistency. Through this collaboration, you'll create a unified approach to storytelling that aligns with Auburn's values and resonates across the university and with its external audiences.
Innovation:
- Continuously monitor and evaluate content performance by tracking key metrics, calculating ROI, and analyzing earned media results. By regularly assessing the effectiveness of Auburn's content, you'll be able to make data-driven decisions that refine strategies, ensuring they remain impactful and relevant.
- Stay updated on higher education trends, media relations, and content strategy best practices to drive Auburn's communication efforts forward. This includes exploring new, innovative approaches to content delivery and audience engagement to keep Auburn's brand presence strong and adaptive to changing digital landscapes.
Production:
- Oversee the entire content production process, managing each stage from planning and writing to editing and publishing across various channels, including websites, social media, and email marketing. You'll ensure a high level of quality and relevance in all content, aiming to captivate Auburn's audiences and support the university's communication goals.
- Enforce Auburn's brand guidelines, voice, and tone across all communications, ensuring consistency and alignment with the university's image. Every piece of content produced should be a true reflection of Auburn's identity, building a cohesive brand experience that resonates with audiences.
- Manage content calendars and project timelines to ensure timely and efficient delivery of news and brand content. By carefully organizing projects, you'll enable Auburn's messaging to be delivered in a structured, strategic manner that maximizes engagement and impact.

- Bachelor's degree
- 8 years of experience in content strategy, print and electronic communications services, media relations, journalism, or similar roles.
