Summary

This is a full-time 9-month annual faculty position involving clinical practicum supervision and academic teaching in the Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) Program. The CSD program offers a B.A. in Communication Sciences and Disorders, an M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology, and an undergraduate minor in Communication Sciences and Disorders.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will have teaching responsibilities in the Communication Sciences and Disorders program, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Course assignments may include both face to face and online instruction.

Clinical practicum supervision includes both on campus and off sites at various Chicagoland locations. Faculty members are expected to show excellence and teaching and student learning and provide service to the department. Service activities include participation and faculty committees and faculty meetings and the clinical and or academic advising of students in the program.


Qualifications

  • Master of Science or Arts Degree in Speech Language Pathology
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) through the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA)
  • Current Illinois State Licensure through Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
  • CPR Certification (BLS + AED)
  • Minimum of 9 months full time experience (or part-time equivalent) in clinical service delivery after receiving Certificate of Clinical Competence.
  • Recent speech language pathology practice is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2-hours of professional development in clinical instruction/supervision
  • Understanding the scope and challenges of the field of Communication Sciences and Disorders
  • Teaching experience and/or supervision of students in higher education preferred
  • Experience with student academic advising and/or mentoring is preferred
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Time management, dependability, and creative problem-solving skills required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong abilities to integrate technology into clinical practice and supervision
  • Enthusiasm toward serving a diverse student and client population

We are a progressive clinic setting utilizing electronic medical records, simulation labs, and therapeutic interventions. We service a wide range of clients across the lifespan and across the scope of practice within speech-language pathology.

This is an exciting opportunity to join Communication and Sciences Disorders Program in CNHSB, recognized for excellence by both national and regional organizations, in the heart of Chicagoland. The CNHSB encompasses Communication Sciences and Disorders program, as well as programs in Business, Exercise Science, Sports and Fitness Administration, Nursing, and Gerontology studies.
