Supervisory Production Planner

Daily Operations:



  • Work highly independently - not only mentoring production planners but also effectively leading a team of production planners in the execution of complex tasks supporting production planning and production activities.

    • Provide oversight while delegating work and mentoring team members.
    • Set day-to-day operational objectives for individuals or teams
    • Develop and lead production planning trainings
    • Provide support / manager input to PFP reviews


  • Support manager in development of resources, including regular check-ins, review of progression, assignments for development, onboarding of new hires, etc.
  • Identify and define production planning issues, risks and challenges, direct efforts to successful resolution.
  • Encourage technical excellence and rigor in the group's work, including offering peer check opportunities.
  • Oversee weekly Purchasing meeting to ensure procurements are on schedule
  • Oversee tracking of open demand activities (purchase requisitions, purchase orders, inspection lots and production orders) to ensure projects stay on schedule
  • Participate and provide guidance on issue resolution in weekly production meetings with planning, manufacturing engineering, project engineering and project management
  • Work with the planning team and scheduler to status progress in project schedules
  • Collaborate with project team, shop technicians, QC, QA, supply chain, planning and manufacturingengineering when issues arise
  • Provide guidance to Production Planning team in development of production order operations and Manufacturing Engineering and shop personnel.


  • Manufacturing Transformation Initiative support
  • Provide labor estimates for representative product drawings
  • Collect and share relevant operating experiences with Production Planning team



Required Skills



  • Advanced Production Planning skills
  • Proficient in SAP particularly PP and QM modules
  • Strong background in Excel preferred
  • Familiar with P-6, Enovia and Sharepoint



EDUCATION REQUIREMENT



  • Bachelor's degree, (project, operations or business management preferred)
  • Minimum of 8-10 years previous experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Superb organizational skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • A willingness to learn.
  • Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
