Position Summary:

Responsible for developing strategies and tactical action plans for all aspects of North American Indirect Spend, payment and auditing partners, and potential COE support personnel by performing the following duties personally or through delegation:

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Indirect Spend Strategy and Execution
    • Develops a multiyear category strategy and execution plan for all relevant indirect spend, including Fleet Management
    • Defines metrics and tracking methodologies for key suppliers.
    • Negotiates supplier contracts and supports and monitors supplier performance.
    • Develop and maintain proactive, safe, efficient, and effective fleet management practices
    • Delivers forecasts and budgets for managed spend.
    • Centralizes payment processes to maximize automation and compliance.
  1. Innovation and Continuous Improvement
    • Drives innovation, automation, digital solutions, and efficiency.
    • Contributes to renewable energy and sustainability initiatives and goals.
    • Monitors and tracks industry trends to identify category risks and deploys risk mitigation tactics
    • Develops creative solutions to improve performance.
  1. Compliance
    • Performs exception reporting and tracking
    • Creates corrective actions for compliance variance
  2. Vallen Team
    • Work with Vallen Business Partners to implement strategic initiatives
    • Enable cross functional communication

Staff Management Responsibilities:

Immediate supervision: over a unit, section or department where the majority of the time is spent assigning, reviewing, checking work and eliminating ordinary difficulties. Recommends candidates for hiring, termination; prepares and conducts performance appraisals and salary reviews, and applies company policies.

Direct management: of a department, section, unit or group involving responsibility for results in terms of cost, methods and personnel. Full accountability for hiring, discipline, discharge, performance appraisals, salary administration, etc.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or University
  • 10+ years' experience managing Indirect Spend relevant policy and process
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Direct Reports
    • Responsible for $25 million in indirect spend
    • COE support personnel leadership
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as training instructions, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • The individual must be entrepreneurial and assertive, and operate within a budget

  • Depending on the location of the employee, the job could be considered a hybrid role where working from an office may be required 2-3 days a week.
