Job Summary

The Outreach and Retention Specialist will be a dedicated resource and internal advocate for improving the success of first generation, low-income, and underserved students in TCC's Certificate/AAS programs. Primary focus will be on recruitment, coordinating services for students and maintaining the databases. Competitive candidates for this position will be required to have experience working with low income and underserved student populations, strong organizational skills, and ideally knowledge or experience working in educational institutions. They will coordinate wraparound services, scholarship funds, supplies, tutoring, etc. and ensure student awareness, access, and satisfaction with these resources.


Essential Duties

Recruitment: Develop and implement strategies to recruit first-generation, low-income, and underserved students into TCC's Certificate/AAS programs.

Coordination of Services: Coordinate wraparound services, including scholarship funds, supplies, tutoring, and other support resources, ensuring students are aware of, have access to, and are satisfied with these resources.

Database Management: Maintain and update student databases to track student progress and service utilization.

Advocacy: Serve as an internal advocate for underserved student populations, working to address barriers and improve retention and success rates.

Collaboration: Work closely with faculty, staff, and external partners to coordinate efforts andenhance support services.

Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor student progress and outcomes, preparing regular reports on the effectiveness of outreach and retention strategies.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in the field of engineering technology and workforce development. Degree requirement may be substituted with relevant and equivalent work experience.

One year experience working with low-income and underserved student populations.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Ability to coordinate and manage multiple services and resources effectively.

Commitment to improving educational outcomes for underserved communities.

Must be capable of transporting and setting up materials for outreach events.

Working hours will include some weekends and evenings.


Preferred Qualifications

One year knowledge or experience working in educational institutions is preferred.

Higher education experience.
