Job Summary

The Senior Manager General Accounting, is responsible for overseeing the accounting operations, ensuring compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements, and driving process improvements across the department. This role involves managing the accounting staff and supporting the company's financial objectives through accurate reporting and analysis.

Job Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the direct management of a moderately large/complex accounting function and the accounting staff in support of that function
  • Monitor department policies and procedures and recommend improvements; serve as a resource in all aspects of accounting
  • Ensure that external document submissions and filings are accurate and timely
  • Serve as a liaison between the company and external auditors and regulatory authorities
  • Complete reports and analyses of departmental and area operations as requested by senior management
  • May work with external consultants or auditors to provide required information and ensure proper recordkeeping for historical purposes
  • Manage the preparation of daily, monthly, annual, and other periodic financial statements
  • Responsible for the development, modification and review of accounting systems, reporting methods and controls
  • Ensure integration of data produced into systems and supports objectives of financial analysts
  • Ensure the accurate compilation, analysis and reporting of accounting data and revenue in accordance with GAAP policies and procedures
  • Responsible for the employment, training, motivation and discipline of direct reports (may include support and/or professional staff members)
  • Assign, direct, and evaluate personnel to ensure efficient operations
  • Ensure that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal, regulatory, and Company procedures
  • Establish accounting plans, goals, and policies that are consistent with established company-wide goals
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Apply principles of accounting to monitor and analyze financial information, and prepare specialized reports
  • Balance books and prepare accounting statements (i.e., profit/loss, income, cash flow, etc.) and schedule
  • Record assets and liabilities and other financial transactions
  • Maintain records of disbursements and expenses
  • Review accounts and reports for accuracy
  • May contribute to the design or modification of accounting systems
  • Contribute to improving processes and procedures that accurately capture, track and report on financial transactions
  • Mentor Staff
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting with 5+ years of accounting experience (or equivalent related education and experience)
  • CPA or MBA preferred
  • At least 2+ years supervisory experience
  • Proven proficiency in leading the day-to-day activities of the department
  • Expert knowledge of Excel is required
  • DeltekCostpoint experience required

U.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.

The expected pay scale for this position is $126,991/year - $197,154/year.Should the level, location, or scope of the position change during the hiring process, the pay scale may be modified accordingly. When extending an offer of employment, Leonardo DRS considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position; any Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, the candidate's relevant work experience, education/training, certifications, and key skills; internal equity; and market and business considerations.
