OVERVIEW:

Conducts technical investigations, analysis, and provides testimony in injury disputes. Provides human-injury impact analysis in vehicular accidents and other cases similar by performing bio-mechanical analysis to determine injury potential based on the accelerations and forces involved. Duties include using computer and physical models to re-construct accidents, to measure the load and injury levels, and to prepare oral and written reports of findings.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:



  • Performs human-injury impact analysis of vehicular incidents, mechanical failures, and falls.
  • Analyzes vehicular accidents, and mechanical failures, and reconstructs incidents. Conducts on-site vehicle inspections as necessary.
  • Conducts human motion and injury impact analyses.
  • Review various media (e.g., photographs, witness statements, depositions, police reports, medical and chiropractic records, etc.) to provide logical conclusions.
  • Locates and applies research of pertinent literature and governmental regulations.
  • Applies mathematical and empirical methods of analyses.
  • Analyzes injuries resulting from automobile, workplace, and recreational incidents.
  • Provides oral reports of investigation observations as well as oral reports of findings.
  • Prepares written reports of findings in clear, concise, easy-to-understand terms.
  • Provides testimony in depositions and at trial.
  • Works as both a seller and a doer of our consulting services. By providing industry leading customer service and comprehensive technical investigations develops long term relationships with our insurance and attorney clientele.


REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, and CERTIFICATIONS:



  • Minimum of a Ph. D in Biomedical Engineering, Biomechanics, or closing related engineering discipline.
  • PE license preferred; ACTAR certification desired.


REQUIRED SKILLS and ABILITIES:



  • Ability to work independently and manage his/her own investigative assignments and clients with minimal supervision in a commercially minded manner.
  • Must have high level of analytical skill. Our work requires continual attention to detail with the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical reports or journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to clearly and coherently write scopes-of-work, budget estimates, schedules, reports of findings, proposals, general correspondence, and other technical documents.
  • Must be able to interact and communicate harmoniously with clients.
  • Must have knowledge of a variety of computer software applications including but not limited to, Microsoft Office Applications along with the ability learn new systems need for specific forensic assignments.
  • Must have a high degree of professional integrity and must have the ability and desire to participate in the adversarial legal process where his/her work product receives intense scrutiny.


Physical Demands, Overtime, and Travel Requirements

Physical Demands - Work is performed both in an office setting and at outside locations (i.e. incident sites). Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, climb, bend, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and drive a motor vehicle to incident sites. Employee may lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employee must be sharp, focused, and alert when conducting inspections, speaking and interacting with clients, preparing written reports of findings, and testifying in deposition or trial. Clear vision and depth perception are also necessary.

Overtime - This position is classified as salaried with an exempt FLSA status. Defined regular working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with one hour for lunch. However, our consultants are able to make their own schedules within the confines of meeting client scheduling needs and expectations. Occasional odd working hours may be required in order to complete technical investigations.

Travel Requirements - This position may require up to 25% travel overnight out of area travel as most inspections are completed locally. Many assignments require only a review documents.

The salary range for this position is $120,000.00 - $150,000.00 and is dependent on education, experience, location and certifications/licensure.
