Role Summary:

This position is a local EV high voltage test engineer associate that will execute the electrical vehicle charging performance and end-to-end test in both laboratory environment and in the field, conduct diagnostic and troubleshooting if needed, to support the electric vehicles for the NAR to ensure market requirements are met or exceeded. Have close linkage with counterparts in Germany and local charging service provide and hardware provider to ensure the test to be conduct properly and the results are evaluated and ensure the quality of the test report according to the VW standard.

Role Responsibilities:




  • Identifies, confirms, and maintains a database of test routes for field drives based on destination and/or test features.
  • Organizes test plans (static and dynamic) and coordinates with the interested participants.
  • Executes all phases of the test and evaluation from planning, vehicle preparation, test execution, results documentation and follow up.


Error Resolution - (40%)



  • Provides documentation (failure report, vehicle protocol, network traces) on electrical communication errors during production in Chattanooga or during the launch phase of vehicles in the field.
  • Uploads the documentation to the central database and follows up directly with responsible engineers for resolution.
  • Provide local support for necessary improvement/change regarding to the electrical vehicle application(HV system especially) for North American region and keep on seeking optimization in term of quality/performance/cost with the support from R&D Germany


Test Vehicle and Bench Maintenance - (10%)



  • Maintains a fleet of test vehicles with the latest software and hardware levels.
  • Maintains test benches and simulators with the latest levels and preparation for the testing activities.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Years of Experience:



  • 3 years of experience with vehicle system or sub-system test, or 2-3 years vehicle control systems bench test and evaluation experience.


Education:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering - required
  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering - desired


Skills:



  • Analytical and conceptual thinking - using logic and reason, creative and strategic
  • Communication skills - interpersonal, presentation and written
  • Computer savvy - skilled in the use of software like MS Office
  • Integration - joining people, processes or systems
  • Resource management
  • Self-starting, self-motivating, responsible
  • German language will be a plus


Specialized Skills - Required:



  • Technical understanding vehicle control system, especially the energy system and powertrain control systems;
  • Understanding of Electrical and Electronics Engineering Fundamentals. Ability to join fundamentals to real world use cases and analyzing component failures


Specialized Skills - Desired:



  • Understand the vehicle communication protocol(CAN)
  • Experience with vehicle function trouble shooting and diagnostic


Work Flexibility:



  • Traveling to the different location of the country and the R&D department in Wolfsburg, Germany
  • Be able to work under the relative high voltage environment(<1000V DC)
  • Ability to be responsible for completing work delegated to you in a timely manner with a high quality of results
