Key Responsibilities:


  • Install, repair, and maintain domestic hot/cold water systems and wastewater systems
  • Install, repair, and maintain Dietary Department and Laboratory Department equipment, sterilizers, washers, distillers, etc.
  • Maintain medical gas piping and equipment
  • Perform welding, brazing, and soldering duties
  • Maintain forced hot water, heating, piping, and chilled water piping systems
  • Perform planned maintenance duties as assigned by Facilities Manager
  • Assist the Facilities Manager in planning the daily workload, the general maintenance schedule, and the Planned Maintenance Schedule
  • Assist the Facilities Manager in maintaining adequate job specific stock or supplies for proper maintenance of all buildings assigned
  • Perform general demolition/construction/renovation work as required
  • Work harmoniously with outside contractors in the execution of their duties as required
  • Maintain assigned equipment and work area in a clean, safe, and orderly manner
  • Report defective equipment to department supervision immediately
  • Complete all work assigned in a timely and professional manner
  • Submit all completed work orders in a timely manner
  • Review work orders with department supervision as required
  • Adhere to department and Medical Center policies and procedures
  • Assist other tradesmen in the execution of their duties as required by supervision
  • Perform a wide variety of trade related duties, providing proper maintenance of the Medical Center
  • Report code violations to department supervision immediately
  • Drive Medical Center's vehicle as required
  • Perform all other duties as assigned or directed

Required Knowledge and Skills:


  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience: 5 years in plumbing and related duties
  • Certification/Licensure: Mass Journeyman Plumber
  • Driver's license required
  • Software/Hardware: CMMS, Outlook, MS Office Suite
  • Moderate physical effort, including frequent lifting, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling
  • Frequent periods of concentration requiring attention to detail
  • Frequent opportunity for diversification of tasks
