About the Job:

We are seeking a highly motivated casual/temp researcher who will focus on the design, building, and testing of a robotically teleoperated universal adapter for current/future intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) catheters. This prototype is to be tested in in-vitro studies with physicians, guiding the ICE catheter via mechanical input and speech recognition

Supervision:

This position will be supervised primarily by Kara Heinle, with input from Dr. Paul Iaizzo.

The Visible Heart Laboratories is a preclinical laboratory focusing on the reanimation of large mammalian and human hearts under simulated physiologic conditions to better visualize the function of cardiac anatomy, as well as the ability to investigate device-tissue interfaces, with the intent of furthering medical device invention and physician/academic training.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in engineering or robotics
  • Flexible schedule based on study days and outreach activities
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs by oneself, must be able to sit and stand for long periods
  • Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Ability to work well independently or as part of a fast-paced research team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in robotics, animal sciences, biological sciences, or related health sciences
  • Experience with (or ability to learn) segmentation software: Materialise, Mimics, CAD, and/or 3-matic,
  • Experience with Computational flow dynamics (CFD)

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $20-22 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience.
