Job Description

The University of Missouri's NextGen Precision Health Building seeks an experienced Research Specialist II for the Dr. Bo Lu Research Lab.

The Research Specialist II will conduct NIH-funded research studies in the areas of autoim, The University of Missouri's NextGen Precision Health Building seeks an experienced Senior Research Specialist for the Dr. Bo Lu Research Lab.

The Senior Research Specialist will conduct funded research studies in the areas of autoimmune cardiopulmonary toxicities. This position requires expertise in immunology, molecular biology, radiation biology, and biochemistry and at least some lab knowledge. This individual will also have administrative responsibilities such as preparing data for grants, assisting with writing manuscripts.

Duties include but not limited to:

  1. Work closely with the principal investigator to conduct collaborative research and assist the lab members. Performs professional technical project tasks and participates in a variety of research procedures. Performs cell culture, ELISA, flow cytometry assay , and set up animal models of human disease.
  2. Performs a variety of specialized or complex research experiments and makes recommendations for improvement/efficiency, as necessary.
  3. Assist in generating high quality data worthy of publication in leading peer-reviewed journals.
  4. Comply with all notebook guidelines and policies to assure the highest level of scientific data quality and integrity. Assists in the coordination of quality control procedures within the research function. Uses existing procedures to solve standard problems.
  5. Works within standardized procedures and practices to achieve objectives and meet deadlines. Exchanges straightforward information, asks questions, and checks for understanding. Assist Lab manager to coordinate external projects with other departments.
  6. Order and maintenance lab supplies.
  7. Develops working relationships with internal parties and may work with external parties, as needed.

Shift

Monday - Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

With immunology research and flow cytometry assay experience

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $51,875.00 - $66,810.00 per year
Grade: GGS-9E
