You will be joining the System Architecture and Solution Design (SASD) lab in Bell Labs, which is creating innovative AI and software systems research, high-impact prototype solutions, and advanced architectures and designs. The lab is also leading the creation of a high-performance research and development environment for Bell Labs. The SASD team has a global footprint with members in the US, France, Hungary and Germany and collaborates closely with a diverse set of Bell Labs researchers across the globe.

We are looking for enthusiastic senior-level researchers to join our research efforts at Bell Labs. As part of our team, you will:



  • Create innovative software solutions for Industry 4.0/5.0, IoT, highly distributed clouds, and AI-based systems,
  • Identify new and ambitious research challenges, define research projects to address these challenges, and carry out these projects to completion,
  • Transfer research results into impactful software solutions through business units or through incubation,
  • Publish research results in major scientific venues worldwide, including top conferences and journals,
  • Collaborate with other researchers in Nokia Bell Labs and external partners,
  • Generate intellectual property through the patenting of ideas.



You have:



  • PhD degree (or equivalent experience) in computer science, electrical engineering, telecommunications, or related disciplines.
  • Extensive experience in several of the following areas: cloud computing technologies, distributed software systems, AI foundations and systems, and IoT/Industry 4.0 systems.
  • A proven track record of high-quality research publications in major international conferences and an in-depth understanding of the field.
  • Ability to conduct independent research while also contributing to team-oriented projects.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to successfully work in collaborative projects.


It would be nice if you also had:



  • Proven experience in designing and realizing large and complex software systems.
  • For our Stuttgart location German language skills are not a requirement but basic skills will be helpful.
