Job Purpose

The Facilities Project Engineer responsible for EOL, business planning, and construction project management to ensure facility operations to support production. Develops and implements strategy to maintain and upgrade existing infrastructure. Adheres to green factory and carbon neutral initiatives through remodel and new construction. Utilizes self, team, and contractor abilities to be successful. Ability to perform and manage all the following project responsibilities with minimal oversight, Schedule, Budget, Scope of Work, Bid, Award, Design, Engineering, Permitting, Construction, Close-out, and contractor management. Focus to maximize cost efficiency and usability while minimizing risk to production and maintenance downtime. Constant interaction with customer departments. Communicate effectively.

Key Accountabilities

  • FAC Site Innovation Lead: Coordinate and collaborate with site department innovation leads. Provide construction cost estimates and timelines, update budget, lead engineering feasibility studies, and communicate strategy to business unit leaders through E-flow. Create scope documents to facilitate bidding and budget process. Ensure estimates are communicated to innovation leads per budget timeframe.
  • Project Management: Work with internal and external customers to support operation of Facilities through business plan, EOL, and repairs. Includes building remodels, new construction, electrical/mechanical system improvements, exterior paving, concrete, siding, roofing. Manage/Support E-flow, Schedule, Budget, Scope of Work, Bid, Award, Design, Engineering, Permitting, Construction, Close-out, and contractor management
  • Mentor: FAC Engineering Development Program and Engineering co-op mentor. Provide leadership and direction to new engineers to increase knowledge, development, skills, to ensure success in Honda.
  • Contract Management: Manage sitewide contracts including budget control, scope development, scope adherence, monthly reporting, monthly walkthroughs. Ensure all work meets or exceeds organizational targets. Adhere to Honda standards to positively impact safety, reliability, and delivery.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Construction Project Management or equivalent related experience
  • 4+ years of experience managing and coordinating Facilities projects
  • Use knowledge and experience to continually improve efficiency and effectiveness of tasks within area of expertise
  • Actively support/participate in project team activities related to significant business innovation; develop and execute activities/tasks to achieve objectives of business team
  • Demonstrate solid base of technical knowledge in day-to-day operations

Working Conditions

  • Onsite
  • Willingness to travel for department reviews and business planning events
  • 50% Manufacturing/Production Environment including construction site locations, 50% office/desk environment
  • Potential for assignments supporting other HDMA Facilities, Honda Affiliates, or North American Suppliers
  • Work all appropriate overtime/weekends/shutdowns to manage projects and cover production needs
