About this Position:

At the Engineer II Career Level, you are an expert in related technical areas and expected to oversee assigned development, testing, and / or research activities, while developing others from a technical, project, and / or team management role.

Responsibilities include:



  • Project/Team Management - Lead medium sized team, communicate the deliverables and plan to achieve them. Coordinate team activities on development/research/testing activities, managing the flow of team members on and off the project as needed. Build the capabilities of the team through coaching and mentoring. Provide technical guidance and oversight on requirement achievement, test results, and countermeasure application. Responsible for function output of project(s).
  • Engineering Solution Design & Specification -
  • Initiate and Lead the design of complex assemblies, the associated drawings, engineering specifications/standards and validation processes as required.
  • Conceive and lead the development of engineering specifications and standards or functions to guide engineering and manufacturing work in the organization and its suppliers.
  • Provide direct technical guidance and final oversight to multiple groups and ensure functional safety standards are met.
  • Gather data and provide feedback and judgement on the feasibility, costs, quality and performance of design concept.
  • Understand and consider in decision-making the connections and impact to different vehicle segments and development activities.
  • Correlate with cross-divisional or cross-company counterparts when necessary and align with the organizational technology standards, regulations, and policies.
  • Review and provide judgement on technical results and offer recommendations for development to technical staff, including up to Chief Engineer.
  • Build or bring in new technologies and specifications, managing associated risks and addressing issues.
  • Supplier Management - Identify new, select and lead technical negotiations with suppliers. Support PIC's in supplier interactions and negotiations. Lead communications, set or support direction setting, build new and manage existing relationships; addressing issues as needed.
  • Documentation - Compile and/or develop documentation to meet program deliverables and move development process forward. Review documents prepared by PIC's for completeness and quality.
  • Integration & Correlation - Integrate areas of responsibility into the vehicle or lead a group in doing so, providing guidance to resources as needed. Interacting and correlating direction at the cross-department and cross-divisional level. Adapting communication style and approach as needed depending on the audience and purpose.
  • Relationship Management - Manage relationships with internal stakeholders and counterparts, building professional credibility and trust. Manage inter-company issues and coordinate internal resources. Provide reports on large project status items and deliverables.
  • Personal Development - Be recognized as a subject matter expert in own area of technology or department function and beyond in the division. Maintain an in-depth understanding of current and emerging technologies, regulations and company best practices.
  • Improvement & Innovation - Lead continuous improvement projects and provide related technical or group management (i.e. in requirement development, process improvement, project management, associate development, communications). Lead and/or create new technology internally or with suppliers. Foresee and recognize potential cascading impacts in the development process and act to prevent or resolve them in a timely manner.


Who we are seeking:



  • BS Mechanical, Aero, or Automotive Engineering; BS Industrial Design or Equivalent Industry Experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience
  • Substantial general work experience together with comprehensive job related experience in own area of expertise to fully competent level
  • Experience of supervising and directing people and other resources to achieve specific end results within limited timeframes
