Teaching, Advising, Curriculum and Instructional Development - Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to teaching may include but are not limited to: subject matter competence, course design, course presentation, advising and consultation, directing student research, curriculum and instructional development, and grading student work.
Scholarly Research, Creative, and Other Professional Activities - All tenured and tenure-track faculty are expected to participate in expanding the knowledge base of their academic field by conducting research or engaging in other creative activities as appropriate to the faculty member's discipline. Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to research may include but are not limited to: research/creative activity that generates new knowledge and/or synthesizes and/or integrates existing knowledge, publication, an on-going agenda for research, scholarly, and creative activity, and are expected to seek extramural support for their work.
Service to University, the Public, and the Profession - All tenured and tenure-track faculty are expected to engage in a program of service appropriate to their discipline. Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to service may include but are not limited to: service to the administration and governance of the University, public service, and service to the profession.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Department Electrical and Computer Engineering ( ECE) has three tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor positions starting in Spring 2025 (positions #004399, #004361, and position #001808). Candidates with expertise in all areas of electrical and computer engineering will be considered, with particular emphasis on (1) Electronic circuits, devices, and systems: integrated circuit design, microelectronics, semiconductor device engineering/fabrication for next-generation computing applications such as quantum computing and neuromorphic computing, (2) Robotics and Controls: large-scale systems, distributed and decentralized decision-making, multi-agent learning and coordination, safe and resilient control, networked robotics, and (3) Computer systems: hardware-software co-design, systems for machine learning applications, cloud and edge computing, embedded systems, systems software, and other systems design aspects that enable real-world AI applications. Candidates with collaborative research focus are encouraged, especially related to smart and sustainable cities, transformational energy systems, transportation and advanced mobility, or digital manufacturing.

Candidates should be committed to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, development of high-impact sponsored research programs, supervision of student research, student mentoring, and academic services. Priority will be given to candidates having original and promising research as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications, potential for success in extramural funding, and a plan for future research that integrates well with existing and aspirational department strengths. Minimum Experience/Education
UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.
Preferred Education, Skills and Experience
A Ph.D. degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related field is required by the time of contract.
