The Engineering department at Norfolk Southern plays a vital role in ensuring the safety, efficiency, and reliability of our rail network. We focus on infrastructure design and maintenance, developing and maintaining track, bridges, and terminals. Our team implements cutting-edge technology and engineering practices to enhance performance and reduce costs while ensuring compliance with safety standards. We manage major construction and renovation projects from concept through completion, collaborating closely with other departments to align our initiatives with overall business goals. Primary Purpose: Performs physical labor using hand tools and equipment to construct, alter, repair, maintain, and demolish railroad tracks, associated structures, and components.
