Position Summary
This position is in the Center for GI Biology and Disease at UNC. The duties will include lab operation and maintenance, equipment operation and conduction of experiments, processing biospecimens- blood and human biopsies following GLP guidelines, and ordering. This position is based on NIH funding and supports ongoing GI research.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Prior work experience with biospecimens and prior laboratory experience working under BSL-2 containment. Ability to follow written detailed protocols and verbal instructions; Candidate must be able to demonstrate attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Ability to work independently as well as function as part of a team. A candidate with laboratory experience, strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills, and punctual attendance is preferred. Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Access, and Word. Specialized knowledge in biomedical research principles. Ability to solve problems and resolve quality control issues by adjusting processes. Relevant experience working with biospecimens, DNA/ RNA extraction, PCR, and biochemical assays is preferred.

Prefer Bachelor's degree in biological science, chemistry, or STEM-related field
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Ability to work at least 3-4 continuous hours at bench or computer. Close-toed shoes and clothing that cover the ankles are required. Regularly required to wear provided Personal Protective Equipment ( PPE) such as nitrile gloves, safety glasses, and lab coat.
