Who we are looking for:

The Plant Controller is responsible for planning, forecasting, analysis, management reporting, accounting operations, and internal controls and compliance. In addition, the Plant Controller serves as the business partner to the Plant Manager, providing support on all matters relating to the performance, capital and other resource allocation decision analysis, and financial processes.

The Controller interacts closely with manufacturing and sales operations. In addition to financial process and performance management, the Controller will contribute, and in some areas provide leadership in strategic initiative deployment. The Controller will interact with the Corporate Accounting and External Reporting to continuously improve accuracy, timeliness, and quality of financial reporting, as well as with corporate Financial Planning and Analysis to improve and maintain forecasting and reporting processes.

What you'll do:



  • Analyze and accurately report current month's financial results to the plant and corporate management in accordance with corporate format and within time requirements.
  • Manage month, quarter and year end closing activities - preparing and posting journal entries, reviewing manufacturing expenses, completing account reconciliations
  • Maintain systems and processes for preparation of operating budgets and financial forecasts for the SBU, report results and advise management accordingly.
  • Provide variance analysis and reporting tools for operations value stream team.
  • Ensure bill of material and costing accurately reflect production operations.
  • Monitor working capital components, devise concepts and work with the location management team to minimize the use of working capital and other assets within the business.
  • Support fixed asset capital spending and tracking requirements.
  • Ensure accurate and timely business transaction recording in the ERP system, including Accounts Payable, Payroll, Inventory, and Fixed Assets.
  • Ensure accuracy of the physical inventory and reported results. Investigate book to physical adjustments made during cycle and annual inventory counts.
  • Work as a member of the team with other Atkore finance leaders and support global finance and IT initiatives.


What you'll bring:



  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting or finance, CMA is a plus.
  • 7-10 years progressive experience in accounting with significant experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to analyze information and create reports
  • Experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment and/or business system-based company a plus.
  • Solid understanding of US GAAP required.
  • Proficient knowledge of MS Office with expert level Excel.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.
  • Must be able to handle multiple tasks at the same time.
  • Action oriented - enjoys working towards goals/deadlines.
  • Customer focus - dedicated to meeting the operations team expectations and requirements of internal and external customers.
  • Excellent communications skills with the ability to work within a team or independently.


    Within 3 months, you'll:



    • Complete your Atkore immersion program.
    • Understand how your job will help deliver Atkore's strategy.
    • Gain an understanding of your team.


    Within 6-months, you'll:



    • Manage month, quarter and year end closing activities - preparing and posting journal entries, reviewing manufacturing expenses, completing account reconciliations.
    • Collaborate with plant manager and leadership team to meet P&L, productivity, KPI and working capital targets.
    • Document processes and implement standard work.

    Within 12-months, you'll:



    • Provide analytical and accounting and reporting support at product-line and customer level.
    • Create, maintain, and update reports, training materials and documentation.
    • Have meaningful performance conversations with your business partners.
