Job Overview
Repairs and maintains building systems, machinery, and mechanical equipment such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties.
A Day In The Life
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Work Orders: Swiftly respond to work order requests, ensuring minimal equipment downtime.
- Plumbing Maintenance: Conduct minor & major plumbing repairs such as fixing leaks, unclogging drains, trenching, and replacing hoses. Routinely inspect plumbing and fixtures for corrosion, condition, and security. Make repairs as needed following all safety protocols, OSHA requirements, etc.
- Industrial Machinery: Repair, install, and adjust industrial machinery to ensure optimal performance. Maintain security of containment berms, flooring, and trenches. Work concentrated in metal finishing work area. Knowledge of chemical safety and PPE a must.
- General Maintenance: Perform a variety of maintenance tasks to support the overall function and safety of our facility. Does general maintenance work such as electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and preventative maintenance as needed. Occasional janitorial, snow removal, outside facility upkeep, etc.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair defective equipment promptly and efficiently. Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
- Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts. Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections. Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements. Adjusts functional parts of devices. Lubricates and cleans parts. Repairs or replaces defective parts.
- Uses meters, welding equipment, machine tools and hand tools to repair machinery and equipment throughout the facility. Tests electrical systems using tools that include voltmeters and ohmmeters to determine where issues may be occurring, the safety of the system and to ensure compatibility.
- Installs special functional, structural, or electrical parts in devices. Starts devices to test their performance.
- Electrical Maintenance: Perform all minor & major electrical maintenance tasks using appropriate tools. Work with systems ranging from 110v single-phase to 480-volt 3-phase. Repairs minor electrical problems under the supervision of the plant electrician. Perform inspections and maintenance on electrical systems to ensure safety and functionality. Determine the steps necessary to assess an electrical situation using testing devices, blueprints and maps. Repair electrical issues by replacing or installing components, wiring or devices. Use ladders, scaffolding, platform, and lifts to work on electrical systems.
- Initiates material order requests for parts and machines.
- Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to push up to 75 pounds, bend, kneel, and climb as needed.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of electrical systems and plumbing.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities.
- Experience with PVC, CPVC, and black steel pipe is preferred.
- Experience with metal finishing chemical process strongly encouraged.
- OSHA 8, 24, and 40 hour HAZWOPER training given priority but will train the right candidate.
