Primary Purpose:

Provides care to assigned patient population in accordance with established protocols and multidisciplinary plan of care utilizing independent, dependent, and interdependent interventions to restore stability, prevent complications, and achieve and maintain optimal patient responses for all patients through patient centered/patient valued care.

Education:

  • Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing Bachelor.
  • Prefer of Science in Nursing.

Experience:

  • Must have two years of nursing experience. Required Certifications / Licensure:
  • Must have current RN license or valid temporary permit with the Texas Board of Nursing; or, valid Compact RN license.
  • Must have current healthcare provider CPR course completion card from one of the following:
    • American Heart Association
    • American Red Cross Rescuer
    • Military Training Network.

Responsibilities:

  1. Provides care to assigned patient population in accordance with the current State of Texas Nurse Practice Act, established protocols, multidisciplinary plan of care, and clinical area specific standards.
  2. Provides continuous assessment, consults with other team members as required and provides nursing care which demonstrates patient centered/patient valued care.
  3. Exercises independent judgment in providing nursing care.
  4. Must be able to demonstrate effective interpersonal skills and possess good oral and written communication skills.
  5. Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, families, and hospital staff in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  6. May be required to communicate effectively, via the overhead paging system.
  7. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to provide direction to non-nursing staff and serve as a preceptor.
  8. Must be able to demonstrate patient centered/patient valued behaviors.
  9. As applicable, will be required to demonstrate acceptable knowledge of nursing standards of care for specialty care area. Read-Only Responsibilities Other duties as assigned.

Career Type: Clinical

Individual contributors who comes in direct physical contact with patients and have responsibility in a clinical discipline or specialty focused on patient needs and/or delivery of high-quality care. The majority of time is spent on the delivery of clinical care. May spend a portion of their time on implementation or design of clinical processes, programs, services, and policies. Senior clinical roles, such as physicians, may also spend ~20% of their overall time on managerial responsibilities; however, the majority of their time is spent on direct patient care.

  • Applies clinical knowledge and experience to achieve operational goals and targets and impacts the overall achievement of results for the job area/department/function

  • May lead and/or organize the work of other lower level clinical professionals or clinical/technical support, or manage processes and programs

Knowledge & Experience

  • Requires clinical license and/or certification typically obtained through education and moderate to advanced practical knowledge of job area obtained through experience
  • Typically viewed as a specialist within discipline -Less than 2 years prior relevant experience

Degree/License

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree in a related clinical field
