The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation are seeking an academic pediatric physiatrist (MD/DO) to join our division of 7 pediatric physiatrists, 4 advanced practice providers, and 7 pediatric neuropsychologists. We serve the UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, a level one trauma center with 314 beds and 12 inpatient rehabilitation beds, ranked 8th in the nation by US News and World Reports. We also provide pediatric physiatry care in numerous outreach settings across the region. Candidates who are board-certified/eligible in Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine or have trained in combined Pediatrics and PM&R are welcome to apply. Those with special interests in research or medical education are strongly encouraged to apply. Rank and salary commensurate with experience.

Candidate should demonstrate strong organizational, communication, teaching, and leadership skills. Clinical and academic track appointments are available, and the positions are well supported by superb staff and facilities.

In addition to the qualifications above:

  • Appointment at the Associate Professor level generally requires a minimum of 5 years of experience and demonstrated scholarly productivity in research, teaching, and/or administrative leadership and service.
  • Appointment at the full Professor level generally requires a minimum of 10 years of experience and the ability to demonstrate the attainment of superior stature and national/international reputation in their field of knowledge.
  • Applicants with less than 5 years of experience would be considered for appointment at the Assistant Professor level.

Clinically-based non-tenure track options are available. For appointment in the tenure stream, evidence of scholarly productivity is required including teaching and academic service, publications in relevant peer-reviewed journals, and a history of successful funding acquisition. The primary requirement for conferral of tenure is an outstanding record of sustained independent scholarship across the various activities listed above.
