Pharmacy Technician

The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for assisting the licensed pharmacist in providing pharmaceutical services to patients, as well as providing necessary services and information to nursing and medical staff. These positions are also responsible for supporting initiatives of area supervisors and managers. These services include:

  • Preparation and packaging of medications

  • Distribution of medications, supplies, and equipment, and maintaining proper inventory levels

  • Makes scheduled deliveries to appointed nursing units to deliver medications to patients while ensuring that our department meets medication security requirements set forth by The Joint Commission.

  • Ensuring medications are secure and in date

  • Keeping appropriate records and documentation and submitting patient charges/credits

  • May have familiarity with hardware configurations, software applications, and file store systems as they relate to pharmacy automation systems

Note

Locations and Shifts will vary and could include opportunities at the following Wexner Medical Center locations: OSU East Hospital, The James Cancer Hospital, The James Infusion department, or University Hospital.

Minimum Required Qualification
High School graduate or equivalent. Certified Pharmacy Technician, Registered Pharmacy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician Trainee. 0 years of relevant experience required. 0-2 years of relevant experience preferred.
