Business Analyst III (Data Management & Analytics)

Job Summary

The Business Analyst III is responsible for interviewing business partners to understand and analyze business goals, translate them to business requirements, and then participate in the overall project to ensure products and systems developed will meet those business requirements. In addition, this position creates and maintains process standards and documentation, and supports testing related to the Data Management and Analytics product area.

This position is based in Leawood, KS and is not eligible for relocation.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead the business requirements gathering and process modeling phases of the software development lifecycle, creating and maintaining enterprise process documentation.
  • Provide expertise and direction in business process functionality and needs, documentation, business rules, and system functions while interfacing with customers on business, technical, and data requirements.
  • Fully document all product functions, business rules, and business processes.
  • Coordinate the development of functional requirements documents, including a detailed description of user needs, application integration, reporting functions, and business rules, ensuring the needs of the stakeholders are met.
  • Communicate technical concepts in a business context, adapting communication to various audiences across IT and business operations teams.
  • Conduct and lead user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Continuously evaluate effectiveness and identify opportunities for streamlining and improvement.
  • Prepare process flows, charts, and diagrams to specify business processes in detail.
  • Understand and support product strategy, roadmaps, and timelines for execution.
  • Effectively manage multiple needs and competing priorities, ensuring critical business needs are being met on time.
What we need from you:
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in business, technology, or a related field.
  • 3+ years' experience gathering, analyzing, and documenting business requirements or business knowledge specific to data management.
  • 5+ years' experience in IT-related positions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to interface with the customer and technology partners. Able to convey complex and technical ideas clearly and concisely, adapting communication based on audience needs. Ensures clear, ongoing communication regarding plans, status, and any challenges with both customers and Technology & Systems teams.
  • Proven leadership skills to effectively facilitate cross-functional meetings, articulate complex processes with clarity, and foster consensus among stakeholders with varied perspectives.
  • Acts with integrity, shows initiative, exercises sound judgment, and leads by example.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities, with the intellectual capacity and ability to gather, sort and analyze data and then develop logical conclusions. Skilled in critical thinking and familiar with various problem-solving tools and techniques, able to communicate options, conclusions, and recommendations to both the business and the technology teams.
  • Solid understanding of the software delivery lifecycle and how it applies to data management, analytics, and reporting.
  • A continual learner, staying current on industry knowledge, emerging technologies, regulatory and compliance requirements, and trends in the Exhibition and Information Technology (IT) industries.
