Position Summary

Responsible for providing primary care services, including assessing, diagnosing, prescribing, treating and educating patients. Works closely with physicians and other clinicians in a team approach to patient care.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

1. Education:Master's degree with an advanced knowledge of nursing theory and practice, and additional medical training.

2.License/Certifications:Current and valid license as a Nurse Practitioner by the Maine State Board of Nursing. Current BLS certification

3.Experience:Minimum three years of professional nursing experience. Two years of Nurse Practitioner experience preferred but not required.

4. Knowledge of advanced practice of nursing, professional nursing theory, practices and regulations related to evaluating and providing patient care, and professional ethics related to the delivery of nursing care.

5. Knowledge of patient assessment techniques including taking medical histories, performing physicals, evaluating health status, including state of wellness and compliance with care recommendations.

6. Skill in case management, time management, problem solving, crisis intervention, multitasking and other organizational matters.

7. Ability to make responsible decisions within scope of NP Practice. * Ability to educate patients, families, and staff in user-friendly manner.

8. Strong computer skills with skill in using computerized health information management system.

9. Excellent communication, interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to establish/maintain effective working relationships with patients, clinical staff and the public.

10. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
