  • Liaise with Members of school districts to promote family literacy and collaboration between MSU Denver Adult Education
  • Collaborate with Community Liaisons to help design opportunities for parent engagement, parent workshops, and Parent-and-Children-Together time activities PACT
  • Report on these activities
  • Collect data from activities and report to MSU Denver as well as the National Center for Families Learning
  • Conduct follow-up with district parents via phone calls, text messages, and email
  • Assist Program Administration with marketing duties including representing Family Literacy at district partner/resource open houses and events.
  • Attend trainings on the four-component model of Family Literacy including Adult Education, Child Education, PACT Time, and Parent Education
  • Attend other training events conducted by MSU Denver and NCFL, possibly including attendance at the NCFL conference in Louisville, KY
  • Research opportunities and examine case studies of successful Parent Workshop and PACT time activities
  • Other duties as assigned

Work Schedule, Communication, and conferences

Work schedule is flexible, but generally includes meeting with district personnel during typical school hours. The ability to shift hours to include evening workshops is expected. Candidate will need to be able to travel for trainings, onboarding, and possible conference attendance. Attendance to the National Center for Families Learning Conference Nov. 18-20 in Louisville, KY is anticipated.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum tech skills include email correspondence and online workshop planning via Forms, Surveys, MS Word, Spreadsheets
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Comfortability presenting in small group and one-on-one situations
  • Minimum Bronze level National Career Readiness Certification or willingness to complete the certificate via ACT WorkKeys examinations upon hire

Desired Qualifications

  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Proven ability to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of immigrant, low income, marginalized, and diverse urban populations
  • Outgoing personality and/or the ability to make connections and network is a vital part of the position

Salary and Terms of Employment

Salary for this position is $25 per hour for between 7 and 15 hours per week. This position runs on semester-based contracts. Anticipated contract includes 40 weeks out of the year.

Administration Hourly Employees in the Family Literacy Program are part-time, at-will employees hired on a semester-by-semester basis. Administration Hourly Employees are not eligible for benefit coverage under the University's benefit program. Semester-by-semester renewal is dependent on budget and enrollment.

Qualified candidates will be expected to attend meetings and workshops in person at off-site locations in the greater metro area upon hire.
