Location

NOTE: This role will have some hybrid opportunities but must be able to commute to campus in Atlanta on a flexible schedule based upon business needs. The schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of the department and Institution. GA Tech reserves the right to change hybrid work status with notice to employee.

Job Summary

Manage the workflow, capacity, and supervision of the instructional design team. Fulfill the roles and responsibilities of an instructional designer. Responsible for setting employee goals, assessing employee performance and providing feedback, and making pay recommendations for the supervised employees. This position will interact on a consistent basis with: Institute academic leadership, faculty, corporate partners, division leadership, management, and staff. This position typically will advise and counsel: Instructional Designers, course producers, and division management. This position will supervise: Instructional Designers and other assigned unit staff.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Lead, supervise, coach, and develop the instructional design team. Manage the instructional design process, including capacity planning, assignment of work, and evaluation and quality control of work.

Job Duty 2 -
Design and develop course curricula and instructional materials in support of faculty teaching efforts. Create new courses and programs and enhance and improve existing course offerings, both credit and non-credit.

Job Duty 3 -
Represent the instructional design team and serve as the main point of contact for the instructional and curricular design projects.

Job Duty 4 -
Supervise and coordinate the evaluation and recommendation of academic technology tools and platforms.

Job Duty 5 -
Assist and recommend strategic planning, forecasting, and growth of the instructional design team

Job Duty 6 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Master's Degree in Instructional Systems, Instructional Design, Educational Technology or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Other Required Qualifications
The job requires one who is task and detail oriented; flexible, and able to perform multiple, various tasks concurrently. Excellent communications skills are required as well as the ability to troubleshoot and solve problems that are varied in nature.

Required Experience
Seven to eight years of job related experience, including three to five years of supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications

Additional Preferred Qualifications
Quality Matters, EDUCAUSE Learning Technology Leadership or similar certifications in instructional or academic technology, Project Management Professional Certification (PMP), portfolio management certification

Preferred Experience
Eight to ten years of job related experience

SKILLS
This job requires advanced expertise in instructional design principles, learning theory, and student learning processes; skill in establishing and maintaining effective relationships with faculty in multiple academic areas; ability to coordinate and manage multiple projects and portfolios; ability to create online courses using appropriate technology tools and platforms; ability to write and manage grant proposals, and manage internal and outsourced resources; desire and motivation to learn, grow professionally and actively improve oneself; ability to successfully supervise instructional design/educational technology teams; ability to successfully manage complex projects; advanced collaboration and teamwork skills; ability to work with tight deadlines and under pressure; knowledge of planning, managing, producing, directing, implementing, leading, and evaluating courses and programs for a variety of age groups; positive attitude, flexibility, and adaptability; exceptional organizational skills; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; and evidence of career progression with increasing work responsibilities.
