Job Description:
TSTC faculty deliver approved curriculum, content, and assessments in an applied learning environment. Responsibilities include facilitation of activities and discussions that engage a range of learning styles with targeted guidance and mentorship to students.
Faculty will also interpret and administer assessments, and offer constructive feedback to support student growth and learning outcomes. A key part of the role is to integrate technology effectively to enrich the educational experiences.
Faculty act as ambassadors for their programs and TSTC.
Faculty will demonstrate TSTC Core values of Excellence, Accountability, Service and Integrity with internal and external stakeholders, customers, students and members of the community.
INSTRUCTIONAL DELIVERY: Prepare and deliver high quality instruction and facilitate the learning of students. Develop appropriate course syllabi and instructional plans, and organize daily classes utilizing a variety of creative/innovative techniques.
INSTRUCTIONAL MANAGEMENT: Fulfill assigned schedule, maintain accurate student records, maintain instructional environment with emphasis on safety, equipment security where applicable, and ensure opportunities for student/participant evaluation.
STUDENT RETENTION AND PLACEMENT: Performs student advisement such that students are provided with timely, accurate, and comprehensive information. Collaborate with the Office of Student Success to ensure students receive current information on tutoring and other programs designed to increase retention.
PROGRAM RECRUITMENT & PROMOTION: Participate in related tours and recruitment events. Assist in department/program planning for recruitment.
TEAMWORK & SERVICE: Demonstrates a willingness to be of service and exhibits pleasant and courteous behavior toward customers (students, parents, employers, and media), organizational coworkers, and other general public contacts. Maintains flexibility, including availability for evening, weekend, or summer assignment, as appropriate; able to work effectively in a team environment; commitment to the mission, vision and values of the college.

ENGINEERING GRAPHICS AND DESIGN TECHNOLOGY * Mastery of Industry-Standard Software: In-depth knowledge and ability to teach advanced features of CAD software like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, and Plant-3D.. * Advanced Drafting Techniques: Proficiency in 3D modeling, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), tolerancing analysis, advanced assembly techniques.with a focus on advanced functionalities for manufacturing (assemblies, drawings, sheet metal). * Piping Codes & Standards: Strong understanding of piping codes and standards like ASME B31.3 (Process Piping) to ensure students understand compliant and safe piping systems. * Strong Manual Drafting Skills: Understanding of traditional drafting methods like orthographic projection, isometric drawing, and sectional views, even with a focus on CAD. * CAM Principles: Understanding of Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) principles and how they connect to the drafting process. Familiarity with various manufacturing techniques like CNC machining, 3D printing, and traditional machining processes. * Project-Based Learning: Experience guiding students or teams on real-world projects that foster problem-solving, critical thinking, design creativity, clear communication, and manufacturability considerations. * Understanding of Manufacturing Processes: Familiarity with how designs translate to physical products through processes like CNC machining or 3D printing. * Process Piping Industry Understanding: Familiarity with the process piping industry, including its specific needs, materials, and common challenges encountered in projects. * Staying Current on Advancements: Ability to keep the curriculum updated with the latest trends and software developments in the field. * Industry Standards and Best Practices: Knowledge of relevant industry standards and ability to integrate them into the learning process. * Experience working in the mechanical design and drafting industry. * Collaboration skills for working with colleagues in other disciplines.
Preferred Skills, knowledge, and certifications or licenses
ENGINEERING GRAPHICS AND DESIGN TECHNOLOGY * Minimum 3 years of experience in the mechanical design and drafting industry. * Proven teaching experience at the post-secondary level, preferably in advanced mechanical drafting. Develop and deliver engaging curriculum for advanced mechanical drafting courses, incorporating industry best practices and standards. * Mastery of industry-standard mechanical drafting software (CAD software like AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, and Plant-3D) and strong manual drafting skills; orthographic projection, isometric drawing, and sectional views, even with a focus on CAD. * Instruct students in advanced topics such as tolerancing, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T),and advanced assembly techniques with a focus on advanced functionalities for manufacturing (assemblies, drawings, sheet metal). * Integrate knowledge of manufacturing processes (CNC machining, 3D printing, etc.) into drafting instruction, fostering a holistic understanding of the field. * Develop and deliver engaging curriculum for advanced pipe drafting courses, adhering to industry standards and best practices (e.g., ASME B31.3). * Curriculum Development: Ability to create engaging and comprehensive curriculum for advanced drafting courses, aligned with industry standards and best practices. * Experience working in the mechanical design and drafting industry. * Certifications in industry-leading drafting software programs (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, and Plant-3D) are highly preferred. * Actively engaged in professional development opportunities to stay abreast of emerging trends, building codes, and drafting standards. * Collaborate with colleagues to continuously refine and elevate the Drafting program curriculum, ensuring it remains industry-relevant and future-oriented. * Quantifiable Achievements of skills advancement and career growth in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction Industries.
Education and Experience
Required * Associate degree in a closely related field and demonstrated qualifications in the technology's teaching discipline. * Verifiable professional experience may be accepted in lieu of other requirements as approved by the Vice Chancellor who oversees academic programs, or his/her designee.*
