The Fitness Coordinator will work jointly with the Wellness Center Director to coordinate and deliver exercise programs to the center community.

Reportability

This position will report directly to the Wellness Center Director.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.



  • Provide daily oversight of the fitness department and programs under the supervision of the Wellness Center Director.
  • Develop and implement a creative physical fitness program for participants.
  • Schedule fitness classes, programs, and workshops in coordination with the Wellness Center Director.
  • Provide oversight and instruction for the gym and fitness equipment to ensure that members are utilizing equipment safely.
  • Modify exercises to accommodate disabilities and limitations based on assessments.
  • Implement evidence-based programs and acquire relevant certifications.
  • Coach participants to achieve optimal health through exercise.
  • Conduct initial and follow-up assessments.
  • Monitor all gym use and sanitation to ensure safety.
  • Monitor and enforce adherence to gym and center policies.
  • Maintain all required certifications to include group instruction (see qualifications) and CPR/AED
  • Assist with implementation of virtual programs via Teams and Zoom platforms.
  • Attend all required meetings and complete all relevant training.
  • Support center and organizational activities as needed.
  • Assist with monthly reports.
  • Perform other administrative office duties as required or as assigned.


      Qualifications

      Knowledge, Skills & Abilities -



      • High school diploma (or equivalent). Bachelor's degree in exercise science, physical education, or kinesiology is a plus.
      • Professional fitness certification required: Group Fitness Certification. Certifications must be from one of the nationally recognized organizations accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA), such as AFTA (American Fitness Training of Athletics), ACE (American Council on Exercise), ISSA (International Sports Science Association), or NETA (National Exercise Trainers Association). Current CPR/AED certification
      • Experience working with seniors.
      • Computer skills with Microsoft 365


      Language Requirement - Ability to communicate effectively in English is required. Additional language proficiency or fluency preferred.

      Physical Demands - Regularly required to sit; frequently required to reach with hands and arms, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk or hear; must be able to lift objects up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Strength and Mobility - Ability to lift and move fitness equipment, such as weights, mats, and other training gear. This might include lifting objects up to a certain weight (e.g., 25-50 pounds). Stamina and Endurance - Capability to actively participate in fitness sessions, demonstrate exercises, and lead fitness classes, which requires physical stamina and endurance.

      Work Environment - Mostly in a typical office or clinic setting with quiet to moderate noise level. May be exposed to extreme cold, heat, and humidity due to outside weather conditions.
