Description

As an Operational Accountant at RDO Equipment Co., you will play a pivotal role in our accounting department, focusing on operational financial activities. You will be instrumental for ensuring the accuracy and integrity of transactional financial data, providing insights into ongoing company operations, and aiding in strategic decision-making. Key Responsibilities:

Transactional Process Management:



  1. Equipment Sales: Process sales transactions efficiently, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and procedures. Including margin analysis, ensuring that costs and revenues associated with the sales transactions are accurately assessed, and providing valuable insights for optimizing profitability.
  2. Bonus Programs: Administer vendor bonus programs, tracking performance metrics, and overseeing the accurate accrual of bonuses for eligible sales.
  3. Maintenance of Subledgers: Ensure all operational financial transactions are properly documented and subledgers are accurately maintained.
  4. Administration of Commissions: Calculation of sales commissions, ensuring accuracy and timely commission payouts.


Reporting & Analysis



  1. Financial Close Process: Prepare and post journal entries for month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial closing processes, ensuring accurate accounting records and compliance with reporting requirements.
  2. Advisory Support: Provide operational financial insights to support strategic decision-making within the company.


Collaboration with Stores ("the Field") and Senior Leaders:



  1. Store Collaboration: Work closely with individual stores, also known as "the field," to gather operational financial data, provide support as needed, maintain subledgers, and offer operational financial insights to help drive business growth.
  2. Senior Leader Engagement: Collaborate with senior leaders to provide operational financial insights and contribute to strategic decision-making at a higher level.


Process Improvement and Efficiency:



  1. Process Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of operational financial operations.
  2. Leverage Technology for Enhancements: Utilize modern accounting software and tools to streamline processes, drive efficiencies, and continuously improve operational financial operations.
  3. Strategic Initiatives: Collaborate on special projects, leveraging financial expertise to contribute to the successful completion of initiatives beyond routine operational tasks.


What You Will Bring:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA certification is a plus.
  • Proficiency in utilizing software and tools, such as MS Office, Excel, etc.
  • Ability to recognize problems and promote solutions.
  • Flexible communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Knowledge of industry-specific operational financial standards and regulations is a plus.
  • This role has the potential for travel on average 1 - 2 weeks per year
  • Candidates must have valid work authorization and be able to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship.
