Position Summary At Stony Brook Medicine, our Social Workers are valuable members of our team, who provide empathic care to our patients, their families and visitors, with the highest degree of integrity and respect. Social Workers apply the principles and practices of their profession to provide integrated social casework, including direct counseling, therapy, advocacy, and other services to individuals, families and groups in a variety of settings. Social Workers plan, implement, coordinate and document treatment for individuals diagnosed with: mental illness and serious emotional disturbance; mental retardation and developmental disabilities; work-related illnesses or injuries; chemical addiction; or perpetrators or victims of neglect, abuse, or crime who need therapeutic intervention, habilitation, training, supervision and re-socialization, or confinement. Qualified candidates will demonstrate excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, knowledge and understanding of patient care and effectively respond to changing patient needs by making decisions based on ethical principles and adhering to our high standard of excellence. Qualified candidates will assist Psychiatric treatment team in an active Psychiatric Emergency setting focusing on interventions of Pediatric, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatric ED cases. Candidate will be able to work independently and initiate case follow up. Duties of the Social Worker may include the following but are not limited to:
Qualifications Required: Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited program. New York State Licensure. One to Three years Psychiatric Social Work experience in Psychiatric Inpatient, Psychiatric Emergency Room, or Community Crisis and Response Team. Preferred: Five years post-Masters with Psychiatric Social Work experience in Psychiatric Inpatient, Psychiatric Emergency Room or Community Crisis and Response team. Experience working with Adult, Adolescent and Pediatric Behavioral Health patients. Hours: 10 hour shift variable: 6 PM -4 AM, 7 PM- 5 AM 8 PM-6 AM Special Notes: Resume/CV should be included with the online application. Anticipated Pay Range: The salary range (or hiring range) for this position is $84,473 - $107,132 Base The above salary range represents SBUH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The specific salary offer will be based on the candidate's validated years of comparable experience.
