The Leonardo DRS Land Electronics business provides C4I Network computing and integrated situational awareness, as well as state-of-the-art embedded diagnostics, vehicle power management and combat vehicle integration products and services.

Job Summary

As a Mechanical Engineering intern, you will be assigned to our Land Electronics line of business in Melbourne, FL with various assignments by program teams, for development of complex mechanical solutions that meet the challenges of a tactical computing environment. Your role will consist of supporting mechanical engineering efforts for conceptual phase through production hand off and support. You may be involved with new product designs utilizing CAD and may support the troubleshooting of existing design failures.

Job Responsibilities
  • Support the mechanical design of products, systems or subsystems using CAD (CREO preferred) and Analysis Software ( ANSYS preferred)
  • Support designs from conceptual phase through production hand off
  • Perform and support initial and ongoing design reviews
  • Design products to meet harsh environments requirement; to include shock, vibration, thermal and immersion
  • Develop drawings using ASME standards, including the implementation of GD&T
  • Review drawings from team members for accuracy
  • Develop BOMs, Engineering Changes and manager design through configuration management release process
  • Conduct Thermal and Structural Analysis
  • Support Test data collection

Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a 4 years degree program or 2 years Masters program in Mechanical Engineering
  • Enrolled as either a Junior or Senior with at least a 3.0 or higher GPA
  • Must be able to support a 15-20hours work week onsite
  • Novice Technical expertise and beginning familiarity with the shop/laboratory and equipment
